Where can I bag a bargain?

Shoppers have two options to find quality clothing that is sold for far less than its high street shop value. The Willow Burn shop in Stanley has a large range of donated clothing to suit every taste imaginable. Willow Burn's online eBay shop lists vintage, new and designer goods of higher value for sale but bidding starts at a far cheaper price than it would cost to buy them brand new.

How do I donate my unwanted goods to Willow Burn?

Unwanted goods can be dropped off at the shop in Stanley or brought to the Hospice by prior appointment, with furniture by arrangement.

I have so many books I don't know what to do with them all, can you help?

We take and sell books at our high street shop in Stanley. Special edition books may be sold on Willow Burn's eBay website. Our Consett Book Shop is full of interesting books to buy at very reasonable prices, why not pop in for a coffee and pick up a fabulous read while your there. A great team of volunteers support this shop and they will be on hand to help you find the book you want.  If it is not in store, they will take the details of the book you require and will try to source it for you, this is all part of the service that they offer.

What if my donated goods are brand new and could fetch more money on an internet based auction site?

We would welcome your new goods which we can sell either through our eBay shop or our Stanley shop.

Are there any sorts of unwanted household goods that you are not able to take and sell?

There are a number of goods that for Trading Standards purposes Willow Burn is unable to sell which include:

  • Baby car seats
  • Bicycles
  • TV's, Video Recorders, DVD players, Digi Boxes, PC's, Play Stations
  • Large garden equipment
  • Crash, riding and cycle helmets

What happens to the goods the charity shops cannot sell?

Where goods cannot be sold they are donated into recycling schemes. Willow Burn has a quarterly textile collection scheme where 'rags and shoes' are collected and recycled on our behalf. Damaged and broken goods that are unable to be repaired are usually disposed of.

Do any of the charity shops sell new goods?
