Green Watch - Lambton Run as part of FIRE FIT CHALLENGE
County Durham & Darlington Fire and Rescue Service have pledged to support Willow Burn fundraising efforts. Green Watch Manager, Gary Bankhead, stated " Green Watch, led by Crew Manager Michael Burdon, will be taking part in a range of activities in the run up to London 2012, when the Fire Fit Challenge officially closes. We are delighted to support Willow Burn as part of our challenge and have entered as a team in the Lambton Run on 8 May."
The Fire Fit Challenge is an FSSAA ( Fire Service Sports & Athletics Association) challenge to find the UKs Healthiest Fire Service Workplace. The Fire Fit Challenge is open to the whole UK Fire & Rescue Service - with the aim of :
- trying to improve levels of fitness throughout the Fire and Rescue Service
- trying to engage with local communities to improve their fitness levels
- trying to raise some money along the way for local charities
Helen Mills, Chief Executive at Willow Burn, stated "we are grateful and welcome the support from County Durham & Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, in particular from Green Watch, as part of our on-going fundraising activities. We wish all well with the Lambton Run and hope this is the start of a long-term relationship both in our fundraising and part of the Green Watch's personal fitness level goals."
