Having qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1978 I worked for 3years at the RVI Newcastle gaining general experience before moving to Prudhoe Hospital to specialise in learning disabilities. After 8years I had a career break, returning to work 4years later at Shotley Bridge Hospital as a member of the Community Rehabilitation Team. As part of this role I began spending 10hours a week at Willow Burn setting up a physiotherapy service and developing a lymphoedema clinic. In June 2010, following a successful bid for Macmillan funding I was appointed Macmillan Specialist Physiotherapist working 30hours per week for Willow Burn. I will be working very closely with the Occupational Therapist and other clinical staff to provide a highly specialist service to patients within the community of Derwentside.
