I began counselling training in 1997 and qualified in 2001

I began work as a counsellor in Durham Prison where I specialised in self harm and offending behaviour before moving onto work in substance misuse and gambling addictions. I began my substance misuse work as a counsellor, then moved into management and finally onto the role of area manager of substance misuse services and regional manager of Gambling services. I was also a part of the Dual Diagnosis teams in both Durham and Gateshead. Throughout my time as a counsellor I have worked with clients who have issues involving anticipatory grief, bereavement and life limiting illnesses issues.

In February 2010 I applied for the post of Family Support Services Manager at Willow Burn and was fortunate enough to get the post. This is a brand new service and I feel it is a very exciting time in which we are developing a service for both adults and children in the Derwentside area.

My qualifications are as follows; NCFE Basic Certificate in Counselling 1997 at Derwentside College, Stanley Campus,  NCFE Certificate in Counselling Completed at Learning World  the Metro Centre 1997/8, Central School of Counselling  Theory course Derwentside College 1998, NCFE Diploma in Counselling completed at New College Durham Nevilles Cross Campus200/1, , Diploma in Performance coaching Newcastle college 2004, Counselling Supervision Paradigm Training Newcastle 2005, Neuro Lingistic Programming Diploma with Evolution Training 2002, Neuro Lingistic Programming Certified Practitioner 2003. NVQ Level 3 in Management 2008.

I have been a member of the British association of Counsellors and psychotherapists since 2001 and an accredited member 2005. I am also a registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist with UKRCP since 2008.
