New Staff - Laura Elliot - Volunteer Services Manager
Allow me to introduce myself - my name is Laura Elliot and I am the newly appointed Volunteer Services Manager for Willow Burn.
Some of you may already know me as I have been volunteering at the Consett bookshop since it opened in April and have attended a couple of Willow Burn events including the 21st Birthday party at Beamish and the volunteer’s party in June.
I am very excited to join the Willow Burn family, after being inspired by all the hard work that goes into the hospice during my time as a volunteer.
For the last 6 years I have worked for Phileas Fogg, owned by United Biscuits, in the Quality department. Prior to that I worked for Woolworths, I’ve always loved working with the public and decided it was time to move back into that area.
My role with Willow Burn will be based out of the offices above the Consett book shop but I will be visible in the hospice, Stanley shop & other areas, including fundraising events.
I live locally in Consett with my husband Andrew and our little cat Valarie. My hobbies include baking, card & jewellery making and reading. I am also quite the football fan, so England’s recent departure from South Africa has hit me hard – even if it was no big surprise!
Within my first month of appointment I would like to take the opportunity to meet all of our wonderful volunteers, to introduce myself in person and to find out a little bit about you all.
I look forward to getting to know you all and supporting Willow Burn together in the future.
If there is anything I can do to help you please don’t hesitate to call me on 01207 583898 or e-mail me at lelliot@willow-burn.co.uk
